Hello Beautiful people!
We are so excited to share with you a new feature in our Golden Connexion Blog called “Discovery” ! We recently had the amazing opportunity to meet the creator of the brand “House of Sudan”. This brand specializes in clothes combining traditional African and modern fabrics. We feel lucky to have had the chance to interview her and are excited to share our conversation with you.
1- Tell us about the “House of Sudan” (HOS)!
The “House of Sudan” brand features feminine Ready-made clothes and accessories. It is important to highlight the fact we carry in our collection Jackets and dresses as well as swimsuits and accessories. The brand is not only focused on clothing design but also the type of fabric used, which combines modern and traditional fabrics. A team of women from Mali makes these uniquely colored and timeless designs for our customer. The brand founder is eager to promote the emancipation and independence of African women.
2- Who are you?
Remember that behind every important brand stands a free spirit, a beautiful story and most importantly, an inspiring WOMAN. This 27-years old woman developed a passion for fashion and managed to impose her unique style in this though world. Fadala Charlotte PONZIO, a young entrepreneur originally from Mali spent most of her youth between Ivory Coast and Mali, especially in her family’s workrooms. That is where and how the idea of creating her own line of clothing developed within her. Today, she lives her dream and excels at creating clothing for women, which combine wax Bogolan and Kente with urban, sophisticated and modern creations.
“ In my view, each creation is unique and conveys a little bit of my personality or even an emotion. When I choose the fabric, it immediately inspires me. I think it must be something special in me. Because I start with choosing fabric materials, then I pick the colors and accessories that I love the most and once that is complete, my imagination helps me to create my dressmaking pattern”.
3- Describe HOS in three words
Creativity. Authenticity. Quality.
4- How did you create the idea of the HOS brand?
At the beginning the brand was just a trial, more like an experiment. But in 2016 while I was in Ivory Coast, I participated in several forums, and every woman entrepreneur that I met complimented me for my capacity to create updated fashion whilst always respecting and enhancing and highlight my shape and curves. From that moment on, I came up with the idea to combine colorful fabrics with an urban and sophisticated style that most women look for.
5- What sets your brand apart from others?
The brand is so specific because I make unique clothing items in limited sizing (from size 36 to 46 and bespoke clothes only by request from size 48 to 54). I really enjoy mixing fabrics and jeans, and also striped imitation leather designs.
6- Why did you choose this name “HOS”?
When I launched the brand, it was named after me “Fadala Fashion”, but I did not like that at all. Therefore I decided to change it and I took care designing the logo and image of my brand myself. I wanted to convey its original spirit and to ease its entrance in a new era. The word “Sudan” stands for “Soudan” an implied historic reference to the former name of Mali prior to the French colonization .
7- How can we get our hands on your designs?
